College Term 2

School has reopened today people. How are you guys feeling about the First Day of term 2? I bet that you are still in holiday mood and as I could see, so are the seniors at PTEK. Things will get back to normal in a few days time. Homeworks submitted? Projects done? Overdues ends? Hope so. Today, PTE Katok seems normal, except for the construction at the "swimming pool" area. Ask your parents to drop you off at outside the gates for a short time being since the drop off road is being blocked. So how was your holidays? Fun? Boring? Hope that it's a good time for you guys to rest and also catch up with everything. For the juniors, hope that the first term holiday will help you to settle down with the hectic schedule you have been having for the two weeks of school in term 1. And not forgetting the seniors, my fellow seniors, we are now nearing the 'AS' Level June Examinations! The holidays are the crucial time for you do straighten things up - hopefully.

The MPs, MPIs and Prefects held a meeting today at the conference room, where one of the MPIs, Hakim, made an announcement that, 20 of the MPs, MPIs and Prefects are being invited to come to a religious talk at UBD on 1st of April, Wednesday at 2pm. To MPs, MPIs and Prefects who are interested please register yourself to Hakim.

As you know, we ITP prefects are trying to make this blog official, now the letter is on its way to meet the principal, hopefully. We managed to do this and that and please continue your support for this blog. We really appreciate it! Thanks for all the positive response on the chat box, its cool to see you guys supporting your own college =) Go PTEK! Lastly, good luck to the students of PTE Katok on the 2nd term. There are lots of hurdles to get over and study smart every one!

On the second last day of school, the Athletics Club/Jogging Club held a meeting at Room 18 where we elected a president for the Juniors of the Club. Jogging Club are now being organised by two students whom get the highest voting by the members, one a representative for BEs and one a representative for AEs who goes by the the names Jarred and Farhanah, respectively and being supervised under Mr Alwi and Mr John Winter. Basically Athletics Club/Jogging Club is all about having fun! As a member of the club, I would like to expose what we have been doing eversince the club has been established at PTE Katok. In the club, we are free to do anything we want that are relating to the club, running, jogging, sprinting, training for a bigger event and so on.
-Students going home earlier than 5 are allowed-
So far, we have been using the school's tracks and grandstand. It is considered a hot spot for the joggers. Always before we start, we should warm up. The members of the club will lead us to warm up and stretch, so that we don't have cramps or what so ever. We can go as many rounds as we want, sprinting or running or just plain jogging or walking round the tracks. For athletics, the track equipment are not being prepared yet, but you are welcome to jog. We usually start at 3 pm until 5 pm on Thursdays and Saturdays.

Spick & Span PTEK~

At last the school holidays finally came and I am sure that almost all of the students are having tons of homeworks! I know I do.. :) Well, hope the homeworks will be done by the end of the month! Okay, as you all know that at the last day of school at PTE Katok there was a cleaning campaign and also the Adventure Club's food fair. The food fair went out really well I guess as the club members gain profit. They sold delicious looking pastries and some of the students really enjoyed them. Before we leave school PTE Katok is now clean and spick and span! Thanks to all the student's effort to clean them! Bravo! Job well done! No longer there is a dusty cupboard, no longer dirty floors and no longer there is the sight of un-clean whiteboards. The last day seemed really boring for some students since 'it is the last day of school' :) Lots of classes just carry "light" lessons but giving out many assignments to do during the holidays. Some of the classes were also finishing up projects to decorate the classrooms so that after the holidays, there's a new informative environment.

Oh yeah, now that the blog is being improved, we apologize for the errors and this blog will be updated more near the future. Hey, we're students too you know.. :) And for your information, this is still not official and we're trying our best to make it official. Hope to get your positive comments on this! Happy holidays everyone!

A word from the administrator

Hey everyone.. I am one of the administrator of the blog. It's been, hmm.. nearly two to three weeks this blog has been opened and I am sorry there are very little news being posted here. Anyways, we finally came to the last week of term one. How's everyone feeling about? Excited for the holidays or sad for leaving school for 10 days? *Laughs* Probably a bit of both yeah? From what I could see at college, it has been a hectic day almost everyday and also the juniors are just getting used to college life. To the juniors especially, I hope you guys are coping up with school times and school work. I know college can be hard and can be easy for you guys.

About clubs, some of you are complaining that there are no informations about clubs or the information is a bit late and last minute. Well, I give you guys a tip, you must always always always see the notice board early in the morning and during your free times. This is because the news of CCAs will be posted there anytime and also news concerning the student. From what I saw, there are many students getting active this year. Including the seniors. I know the clubs seemed interesting to join and it could give you precious experience. Believe me, I never regret joining the clubs I've signed up as it gives me experience and also memories that I would never trade with anything.

The college compound also became packed ever since the juniors came in. Some of the seniors and juniors have been complaining about there never seemed to have enought chairs and tables in the dining hall, which is so true :) and also the juniors kept getting alot of homeworks :) Well juniors, that is one part of college life that you have to cope with. We seniors are used to it already. Homeworks are good for practice as well as revising the topics that you guys have studied. Okay, I think I better stop babbling here about work :)

Okay, I think that's all that I want to share with you people of  PTE Katok. I hope you enjoy the last week of the school term and any suggestions, please don't hesitate to email us or leave a message at the chat box!

Welcome Juniors of PTEK

The orientation of juniors for Pusat Tingkatan Enam, Katok (PTEK) for the session 2009-2010 has just started on 2nd of March and ended on the 3rd of March. We hope that our new juniors will be happy to start their college days at PTEK and excel in their studies. The juniors were showed around the college as well as being introduced to the whole administration of PTEK and also with their senior student council and prefects. Also, they were asked to sign up to any ECAs that they are interested in during the last day of orientation.
As the seniors of PTEK, we surely welcome the juniors and also hopefully they can cooperate with us in the future. The college has became jampacked with students with various high school back grounds and the college corridors and dining hall were always filled by students. The students were being introduced to the studying system in their homerooms and hopefully by nextweek, they will start the challenging and exciting life of being a college student. Some of the juniors lost their way as they tried to find their respective classes and they asked the seniors for help of course! :-)

Recently four students from Pusat Tingkatan Enam Katok (PTEK) took part in the ISB Borneo Global Issues Conference which was held at ISB (International School Brunei) and also ICC (International Convention Centre). It is an honour for PTEK to have these four students due to its prestigious events as one of the school representatives get to meet HRH Pengiran Anak Sarah binti Pg Haji Ab-Rahaman. These four students are:
L2R: Hazim, Bazilah, Yusof & Jason
PTEK's very own YDP- Jason Chin Yuan Kae as the delegate for Denmark in ECOSOC Forum 2
- Abdul Hazim bin Hj Abdul Kassim as the delegate for Paraguay in Environment Forum 1
- Yusof Fadli bin Haji Sidek as the delegate for Denmark  in Environment Forum 2
- Siti Nurbazilah binti Hj Mohd Noor as the delegate for Vietnam in ECOSOC Forum 2
also not forgetting Mr Lyndon Davies who is one of the English teachers in PTEK who 'chaperone' the delegates during the whole event.
The students with Mr Lyndon Davies
Basically BGIC is a very fun and exciting experience since it started last Friday and just ended on Monday Night. The students get to meet with other students who came from different schools in Brunei and also, from Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia. All of the delegates took the opportunity of meeting Nathan Chasing Horse, who is a native American/celebrity/activist of defending the culture and customs of the Native Americans and also Adrian Lasimbang, who is also an activist for the Malaysian Native people and the president of JOAS (Jaringan Orang Asal SeMalaysia).

Overall, the students had a great experience upon joining and would really encourage the juniors to join BGIC as it has many advantages such as improving skills in public speaking and also a great way to socialize with other students and could make many international and national friends.
